Every woman wants beautiful breasts, and at one time, most every woman has them. But, childbearing, age, exercise, improperly fitting bras, and other reasons can cause the breasts to lose elasticity, and sag. A breast lift can restore a woman’s self confidence and can make the breasts look and feel perky and upright again. As with any surgery, there is the worry of scarring. Luckily, the contours of the body and a good board-certified plastic surgeon will go a long way toward disguising this surgical procedure to hide signs of surgery.
The scars are generally concealed underneath the natural curvature of each breast. Their size, shape and structure will depend upon the method used, the surgeon’s skill, which surgical technique and your skin type in addition to the amount of lift necessary to obtain the look that you want. Your general health can also be a factor in successful outcome of the procedure. Before any plastic surgery, you should quit smoking. Smoking impairs the body’s ability to heal quickly. Aftercare requires good communication and understanding of the role YOU play before and after the surgery. Follow all post-surgery instructions to heal properly and avoid scarring.
Taking good care of yourself and following the doctor’s instructions for healing will cut down on the risk of infection AND scar tissue. If you see any changes or have concern – please call your doctor immediately. They will not know, unless you tell them – and bringing up anxieties quickly, gives you and your surgeon a chance to discuss your questions ‘nip any potential concerns, in the bud’. Chances are that you will heal quickly and your new breast lift will give you years of pleasure – but, paying attention to your aftercare and your body is a very important part of being happy with any procedure.
